  • London Olympics will have one-eyed mascots

    August 26, 2010

    London Eye Mascot

Organizers of the 2012 London Summer Olympics have decided upon one-eyed mascots for their Games, and no, they’re not pirates.

They are Wenlock and Mandeville, names for two small English towns, and they have no discernible gender. (See an animated video about their fictional origin here.)

Says London organizing chief Sebastian Coe of the move away from mascots that easily make for stuffed-animal marketing: “We’ve talked to lots of children and they don’t want cuddly toys. They want something they can interact with and something with a good story behind it.”

Well, we suppose explaining to a child why someone has only one eye and is neither male nor female would indeed make for a good story.

    World Cup 2010 Horus

    Horus?

    Horus

Jesus was referred to as the chief cornerstone (i.e., capstone) – a reference to an Egyptian pyramid. The chief cornerstone of the pyramid is same symbol for Horus, the Egyptian god and savior. Like the Egyptian pharoah, Jesus was called a shepherd who rules the nations with a staff. Horus was a popular Egyptian god who was the son of Osiris and Isis. Osiris and Horus were both solar deities. Osiris was the setting sun, Horus the rising sun. Jesus is the rising Son and the morning star. The pharoah was considered to be an incarnation of Horus (also known as “Amen-Ra,” the sun god). In the same way, Jesus is considered to be the incarnation of his heavenly Father. Horus was the lamb of God who took away the sins of the world. Horus had an adversary named “Set”. Jesus’ adversary was “Satan”.

The story of Horus can be found in “The Egyptian Book of the Dead (also known as the “Papyrus of Ani”) written over 3,000 years before the birth of Christ.

    Satan at the Olympics?

    February 18, 2010

The ruler of this world makes an appearance at the Winter Olympics. La Chasse-galerie also known as “The Bewitched Canoe” or “The Flying Canoe” is a popular French-Canadian tale of voyageurs who make a deal with the devil. In Quebec, the best known version is written by Honoré Beaugrand. This is the story of the Gatineau loggers who make a pact with the devil in order to steal a boat so they can visit their women. They are warned, however, not to blaspheme during the voyage, or touch crosses atop church steeples, and they must be back before six o’clock the next morning. Otherwise they would lose their souls. Beaugrand was a Freemason Luciferian. They considered Lucifer as an angelic light bearer. In his version, the devil (Lucifer) is rather generous, and allows the men to return unhurt and undamaged.

    Is Yao Ming the Devil?

    November 5, 2009

    Yao Ming

The caption from this authentic unretouched Chinese promotional postcard for McDonalds says something about how “Beef makes you strong.” For an American (or at least me) looking at this, I see Yao Ming in a demonic horned salute ( or a Longhorn fan) to Satan having already sold his soul to the dark one for fame and victory. The background shadow of a looming horned figure seems to confirm that the possession of his soul has already taken place.

Do I believe some conspiracy of evil has sent a message to 1.4 billion people leading them to the dark side of the soul? I doubt it. Regardless of how you feel about multinational conglomerates, this represents to me an example of weak due dilligence and research on the part of the local agency that did this ad for McDonalds. Regardless of the market and target consumer, all ads have become global thanks to the pervasiveness of the Internet. A simple focus group with foreigners probably would have uncovered the unintentional satanic overtones of this ad. Maybe I’m too critical but companies and multimillionaire athletes need to protect their brand.
