There are only two views of History: one, that everything happens by accident; and two, everything occurs by design. The former view is held by the ignorant, the fool and the liar, the second is held by the wise. History is made by design and not a product of happenstance. Two public figures separated by time understood this. Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945) the 32nd President of the United States said: “Nothing in politics ever happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way.” Benjamin Disraeli (1804-1881) Prime Minister of Britain, wrote: “The world is governed by people far different from those imagined by the public.” These two simple statements illustrate the basic premise which underlies the substantive and proper study of History: that every major event in politics, economics, finance and international relations are the products of calculated power moves by secret cabals bent upon controlling the world absolutely and forever. In short: that History is made by hidden powers working according to preordained plans. Consequently, those who understand this, that History is Made by largely unseen forces, also understand and can perceive this ongoing titanic power struggle within the historical process. A fateful struggle that constantly shapes the present in preparation for the planned future, yet, which is neither recognised or understood by most people. That is why those who do not recognise this reality find current events baffling and modern diplomacy illogical no matter how diligently they follow the “news” pumped out by the controlled media.

This ignorance and naiveté renders even the most intelligent vulnerable to manipulation by the hidden powers operating behind the scenes. However, those who understand this reality, who understand that hidden hands work behind the scenes, who see the consequences of this activity by largely unseen forces, recognise that all major events are engineered and, in many instances, often predictable. Thus , the proper student of History soon comes to realise that the most striking feature arising from their studies is that seemingly countless, chaotic and unrelated historical events are in fact none of these things. That they are, in truth, all intimately bound by a calculated design and tied together by a purposeful mind orchestrating them throughout the ages. The proper student of History armed with such wisdom thus becomes less vulnerable, less manipulated and infinitely more difficult to control by those seeking absolute power over every one, everywhere and forever. This is why those who seek absolute power have continually sought to conceal their terrible ambition form all who would be most effected by it. Power is always most secure and invariably more effective when it is not recognised, when it is origin is well concealed. Thus, the supreme temporal power on Earth has always and assiduously sought to conceal itself from those it seeks to control. Moreover, this power, this hidden power, has made every effort to keep its identity and information about it from becoming public. Immense effort and energy have been made by the Lords of Power to conceal their presence and ambition from public exposure. That is why they inhabit and ruthlessly control the dark Empire of the Secret Societies. They have ruthlessly and mercilessly guarded their true identity and power.

These Lords of Power are the Occult Hierarchy who command the Dark Empire of the Secret Societies who are part of a very closed network of inter-generational Luciferian dynasties whose bloodlines are exalted by fellow Luciferians above all others. Their occult power is such that they rule above even the so-called “Rothschild Tribunal,” which consists of the high councils of organised witchcraft, Freemasonry and the Illuminati; the Council of 13 (Grand Druids), and the Council of 33 (Grand Masters of Freemasonry) that function as the principal council for the Brotherhood of Death. Nor does it reside in the so-called Council of Nine, the “Nine Unknown Men.” The real temporal and secular power in the world lies above these unholy unions and resides in an ancient Luciferian Cult whose roots go deep into human history. A baneful presence that has slowly, inexorably garnered immense power and influence and whose impress upon the historical process can easily be seen by those with eyes to see.

It is here, in this ancient Luciferian Cult that is found the secret force behind the great power moves that shape History. For, it is here, in this ancient Luciferian Cult, unknown to even those who think themselves exalted within the Dark Empire of Secret Societies that the organising mind behind the ancient agenda for World Empire is found. A diabolic intelligence that permeates throughout the Dark Empire of Secret Societies that it ruthlessly controls. A cold, calculating mind that orchestrates the massive, age-old programme whose ultimate goal is to establish World Government under its direct control. This very secret, very powerful cabal is the true temporal and secular power on Earth whose power and influence is made manifest at the highest levels of global state-craft and elsewhere through the network of societies, cults, sects that comprise the Dark Empire of the Secret Societies. Moreover, by the placemen, agentur and lackeys who are members of these Secret Societies and who are promoted because of their membership into the highest offices of state. This very Evil and very wicked cabal consists of people who are inter-generational Luciferians and Satanists who are the supreme exponents of a form of Magick, of Black Magic, and are the Dark or Black Adepts in the Cult of Evil who are verily the main human agents of Evil on Earth. And, gentle reader, it is this ancient, organising mind, this Luciferian and Satanic spirituality made manifest in the Cult of Evil, and personified by these Black Adepts, that Christ identified as the Synagogue of Satan … the great and terrible bane of humanity.

Thus, the Cult of Evil, the Synagogue of Satan, is the religion of Evil. It is very ancient and is in fact the oldest religion on Earth at whose head are found the two Dark Gods of immense spiritual power called Lucifer and Ahriman (Satan). Because of this inherited occult and temporal power, these Black Adepts are men of Pharisees Conspire to Kill Christunexampled secular power and are, in the temporal sense, the secret masters of this world. That is why they are often alluded to in certain writings as the “Secret Chiefs,” “Ascended Masters,” “divine teachers,” “the Occult Hierarchy,” or whatever and, more prosaically, simply the Shadow Government of this World. This same dark power operated in Palestine during Christ’s Mission in the Jewish sects that opposed Him: the Pharisee, Sadducee and Scribes. The power and influence of the Cult of Evil, the Synagogue of Satan, today is such, that now there is a handful of people in several countries who wield real power and collectively posses the greatest power in the modern world. And it is the Cult of Evil, this Synagogue of Satan, who possess this unequalled power, who are the true and only “Global Elite.”

Regardless of the public perception of their political leaders and the perceived power of their once sovereign parliaments, the real temporal and secular power on Earth lies elsewhere. It lies in the dark, Luciferian Empire of the Secret Societies but especially in the supreme expression of this Luciferian Creed: a very secret cabal of occult and secular power, power accrued over many centuries, the very ancient, the very evil and very wicked, Cult of Evil. This super-secret cabal of power has all useful people, including politicians and religious leaders, in its pockets. These are the placemen of the conspiracy, the agentur, who move to advance the ambitions of their secret masters by corrupting and betraying the organisations and institutions they swore to uphold. This group has been shaping Western society for many centuries, and its power is such that it now is able to manipulate the whole world and modify its destiny to suit their unholy aims. This is not sensationalism, hyperbole or “conspiracy theory” it is “conspiracy fact”: for, it is the TRUTH. And those who deny it or either fools or liars.

Although Freemasonry delights in its reputation as the world’s most powerful secret society, it is not up to the great and terrible task of usurping Creation. In fact, it is not even in the running. Although the network of Freemasonry and its Lodge system are integral to the World Revolutionary Movement for World Government the real powerbrokers are very, very secret, and take great care to remain hidden from the scrutiny of society. In Britain, there are only three of them, in Ireland, there are two; in France, there are eight, in Germany, there are six: in North and South America, there are twenty. Ponder awhile on this fact, gentle reader, that 39 men are effectively the supreme rulers of this world … and yet they want more … much more …

This true “Global Elite,” this super-secret cabal of power, this Synagogue of Satan, this Secret Order, does not contain any Presidents, Prime Ministers, generals, admirals, CEO’s, or bankers. They are not required, for the fabulous wealth and privilege at the disposal of this secret cabal -accrued over centuries- easily corrupts all and any aspirant to power and influence. Thus, there are 39 very wealthy men- so uniquely wealthy- they can circumvent any security there is and corrupt the morals of most any man alive. They have their agents within Freemasonry, the Rosicrucians, the Jesuits and any secret society of any concern at all. It has also controlled Organised Jewry for many centuries exacerbating and exploiting the tension between Jew and Gentile. These people can influence all aspects of society, especially in the judiciary and in politics. They control the United Nations, the European Union and the USA by the placement of agents of influence – their agentur- in key positions. They have some of their creatures in crucial posts in the Vatican. They have agents of influence in the media, academia and every social movement and every political party and trade union. Ideology does not concern them in any form, for they are above such parochial concerns. They operate on a higher level than party politics, which is why it is difficult to perceive their actions. They distract ordinary men by creating the politics of “Right” and “Left,” knowing that the resulting ideological squabbles distract and exhaust the creative energies of good people. They possess consummate skill in the art of metapolitics: the manipulation of events on a global scale and across decades of time. All politicians, whatever their public profile, are minor players in the much larger game played by these hidden masters. It does not matter what complexion of politician is elected into government- all of them will carry out, wittingly or otherwise, the policies of these hidden powerbrokers, these true Lords of Power.

Surface politics of “two party” opposition and rivalry – of high political theatre- are simply smoke and mirrors masking the true stratagems orchestrated by these hidden puppet-masters that have control of these supposedly rival parties. The “Two Party” system in the US and Britain is a myth. Both sides, the “Right” and the “Left,” “Capital” and “Labour,” “Conservative” and “Labour,” “Republican” and “Democrat,” are in the thrall of this cabal of power and enact legislation that ultimately draws the world towards the New World Order. Parliamentary goings-on are now simply a Punch and Judy show for the ignorant masses. Consequently, diversions, spurious political party lines and false concerns are stirred-up to confound proper understanding of the reality … of the truly dire situation that faces us all. Acts of one government and policies of another conceal the stealth of these hidden masters. Moreover, as low-level debate on very mundane matters occupies people, diverting attention and confounding proper understanding, this evil cabal digs ever deeper into the Soul of the World.

Throughout history there have lived men who schemed to bring to their group absolute worldly power. Men who were part of an age-old Secret Order that has contrived and orchestrated chaos throughout the entire historical process to subvert all powers but their own. This age-old Secret Order hides behind what some researchers have called the Global Elite or the Anglo-American Establishment whose exoteric expression is most evident in the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, the Bilderbergers, the huge Tax-Exempt Foundations, the United Nations and the European Union. On the mundane level, the Global Elite, this Corporatocracy, are heads of the ultimate criminal syndicate. It has succeeded in creating the most incredible crime syndicate of exploitation, extortion and control that this world has ever seen. That is, by wholesale subversion of the political process; by foisting counterfeit currencies on gullible nations; by usury; by a relentless Humanist Agenda designed to morally and spiritually degrade Western civilisation, and by cynical manipulation of public perceptions via a subtlety controlled media and academia, this age-old Secret Order have erected their Matrix of Evil around the world. However, this Secret Order does not merely seek to establish the most crafty and efficient crime syndicate in history. It has infinitely more vaunting ambitions than this.

The Dark Lords of Power, this Occult Hierarchy now alive, are the heirs to the age-old, occult agenda for World Empire. A dark, terrible agenda nurtured and promoted by the Secret Societies whose most powerful, most ancient, most exalted sect is the Cult of Evil. A Secret Order, a Brotherhood of Darkness, at whose head sit 39 men who are verily the true Lords of Power on Earth. And so, gentle reader, these Lords of Power, this Occult Hierarchy, are the High Priests of the Luciferian Creed, the Black Adepts in the Cult of Evil, who, by their ruthless control of the Empire of the Secret Societies, are the main human agents of Evil on Earth. They are men who are inheritors of such concentrated occult power, of such temporal and secular power and influence garnered from centuries of plotting and scheming, that their will prevails wherever and whenever it is so desired. Many men have succumbed to this power, many have been corrupted by it and many have been consumed by it.

For, it is a truly a universal corrosive force acting in every sphere of human endeavour and acting upon everyone, everywhere even though most do not know it. For, it is a monumental spiritual battle raging on this Earth and it is taking place at a time when mankind is least able to perceive it. That at the time when wisdom, discernment and understanding is most needed these faculties are wholly absent in the majority now too materialistic, affluent, indulged, distracted, brainwashed and spiritually blind to see the dire danger they are in. That they can not perceive this baneful presence lurking in the shadows that is intent on bringing everyone, everywhere under their direct control from the cradle to the grave. This Cult of Evil, this Synagogue of Satan, who are the main human agents of Evil on Earth and who are the arbiters of the ancient agenda of Evil, the Evil Agenda for the establishment of a totalitarian World Government under their direct control. And it these few men, these Lords of Power, who are the earthly representatives of the very same dark power that put Jesus Christ on the Cross at Calvary. They are the High Priests of the Luciferian Creed that are the main vehicle of the spirit of Antichrist within the historical process, which is the terrible, dark force Christ called the Synagogue of Satan. It is Organised Evil on Earth that nurtures the spirit of Antichrist, which brings forth the spirits of blasphemy.

In fact, membership of one or another of these cults is the primary way that guarantees entry into high office. Freemasonry, Skull and Bones, the Jesuits, Knights of Columbus, Papal Knights, Opus Dei, the Illuminati and numerous other cults and sects are all interlocked by one common agenda and all are based on habitual secrecy that shrouds their works in mystery. The grip of Secret Societies on the modern world is such that Antichrist Illuminists, members of the myriad cults comprising the Dark Empire of Secret Societies, hold most of the high offices in Church and State.

However, Christ informed us that the only reason for habitual secrecy by organised men is to hide their evil (John 3:19-20; 18-20). Thus, the habitual secrecy of the Empire of Secret Societies is designed to not simply conceal occult ceremonial and ritual tomfooleries but a great and terrible secret: that they are the main vehicle of Evil on Earth and seek to eradicate God’s presence on Earth. And, those with eyes to see and hears to hear can perceive this wholesale corruption of society and see many men in high places living under the Sword of Damocles … For, in the final day, these men and women who have willingly and unwittingly advanced this Evil Agenda will have to face Christ and justify their actions: during the day when all men will stand before Christ and will be judged for their deeds For, Christ, sitting on the Great White Throne of Judgement, will judge all men according to their works, for, He is verily the Lord of Karma (Rev. 20:11-15).

A stage in which a World Empire of unimagined tyranny is set up before the inauguration of their ultimate goal: the Kingdom of Antichrist on Earth. But, before this can happen, they must carry out a terrible purging of humanity whereby all will be offered the choice of the Luciferian Initiation into the New World Order or be killed, sacrificed on the altar of the Kingdom of Antichrist. It is a time of the greatest manifestation of Satanic energy on Earth, a time unique in human history. A time long anticipated by the High Priests of the Luciferian Creed, the secret masters of the Secret Societies who Christ called the Synagogue of Satan. An Evil Agenda these Black Adepts in the Cult of Evil revealed in the very wicked and very evil document known to History as the Protocols of the (Learned) Elders of Zion.

Colony Collapse Disorder and the Human Bee

This article is about the mystery of the disappearing honey bee called Colony Collapse Disorder.

The honey bee continues to disappear at a dramatic rate worldwide. Many beekeepers estimate that, at the current rate of bee loss, there now may be only a ten year window to find a cause and a cure for this malady. In fact, the British Beekeepers Association has warned that honeybees could disappear entirely from Great Britain by 2018.

This mystery of the disappearing honey bee is called Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). CCD is unique since it leaves bee hives with a queen bee, a few newly-hatched adults, and plenty of food, while all of the worker bees responsible for pollination just disappear. The truth is that the number of disappearing bees worldwide is quite staggering.

In the United States, beekeepers lost 35 percent of their hives last winter, after losing 30 percent the previous year. Internationally, similar widespread bee losses have been reported throughout Canada, Brazil, India and China, as well as throughout Europe

In general, international government agencies and organizations like the United Nations have done little to solve this escalating problem. In the United States, the House of Representatives held an emergency hearing last June on the status of bee pollinators in North America. The result of that hearing was an allocation of $5 million to honeybee research attached to the farm bill. However, that funding was subsequently cut in half during the last year. So far, in 2008, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has made just $4 million available to a consortium of universities for research into the problem of disappearing honey bees.

Unfortunately, international politicians are more focused on the potential warming effect of CO2 emissions on the planet during the next century. This apparent proactive approach to global climate change obscures the more immediate environmental threat that CCD poses to our health, diet, and food supply. Indeed, a world without the pollination of the honey bee would be truly devastating to national and international agriculture and it may occur within the next decade.

In fact, honey bee pollination is responsible for the growth of all fruits and many vegetables as well as livestock feed. It is estimated that bees pollinate one third of American food and three quarters of plants, including crops, fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, even cotton that is used in fabrics.

With the current lack of government response, the complexity of the research into the problem, and the rate of annual bee loss, it may be time for us to look at the world of agriculture without the pollination of the honey bee.

For an immediate glimpse of this dubious future, we can look to Maoxian County of Sichuan, China. It is an area that has lost it pollinators through the indiscriminate use of pesticides and the over-harvesting of its honey. The result is that hand pollination of pear and apple trees has become a common practice. In this part of China, the honey bee has been replaced by the human bee.

Consider that every spring for the last two decades, thousands of villagers have climbed through fruit trees hand-pollinating blossoms by dipping “pollination sticks”(brushes made of chicken feathers and cigarette filters) into plastic bottles of pollen and then touching them against each of the tree’s billions of blossoms. Could this method of pollination be a glimpse of our future? Humans replacing bees by hand pollinating trees and plants in an attempt to produce one third of our food staples.

Of course, it will be expensive to hire human bee pollinators. Remember that nature used to provide this service in the past for free. Consider that the cost of the loss of the pollination of the honey bee has been estimated at anywhere between fourteen billion and ninety two billion dollars in the United States alone.

In fact, many farms may not be able to profitably pass on such a large cost to consumers, resulting in many food staples that will no longer be grown. Of the food supply that will remain, price inflation will leave it out of the economic reach of many worldwide. Global famine will increase and diets will change. The result will be dramatic devastation for international human health.

In the future, other types of bees could potentially be trained as pollinators. However, to date, that experiment has not shown a great deal of efficiency. The result of CCD may well mean the honey bee will be replaced by the human bee. Unfortunately, the human pollinator is an expensive agricultural answer and does not provide a feasible solution to the environmental problem of disappearing honey bees.

The Parts Left Out of the Good Shepherd

Hollywood recently released the first behind-the-curtain account of the creation of the Central Intelligence Agency and its relationship with a secret society at Yale University known as Skull and Bones. HIGH TIMES asked the world’s leading authority on the group to help us separate truth from fiction.

The Good Shepherd is Robert De Niro’s effort to mine the dramatic materials at the very real-life nexus of secret societies, intelligence agencies and recorded history, apparently in an attempt to forge a Godfather-style franchise.

But one is left wincing at the thought of The Good Shepherd. Part II, given that the film begins and ends with the failed Bay of Pigs invasion and its aftermath, with the assassination of JFK and its attendant wilderness of conspiracy lurking just over the horizon, Will the "right people" end up washing the blood off their hands in a sequel, laying the action off on some mob operation gone rogue, which then had to be covered up for "the good of the country"? All just an honest mistake….

But I seem to be getting ahead of myself. I have often been asked. ‘What do you think of the movie The Good Shepherd? And the best response I could usually offer was: "Well. I haven’t seen it yet." I’d been aware of the film for several years, and followed its progress to the silver screen, but I don’t get out much. Then, finally, the DVD version of the film wound its way to our local store, and I picked up a copy to see what I could find. My first viewing brought up a host of indignant furies, all riled at the historical hubris of the tale and the simple fact that most of the characters in it and even the film’s central story of betrayal are amalgamations at best, and total confabulations at worst. Don’t get me wrong: I’m not saying that you shouldn’t watch this movie, As a matter of fact. I recommend it highly — but with caveats, as will soon become clear.

Similar emotions were probably experienced by the relatives of Mafia members when The Godfather came out: contempt for its errors, but still a satisfaction at seeing a film with some semblance of reality, accurately portraying the Mafia’s attitudes, atmosphere and activities while, at the same time, exposing a very tragic and very real group that plays by its own rules and affects us all … immensely. Being an intelligence brat. I can only speak about The Good Shepherd, but if you’re interested in the views of Mafia whelps. I suggest reading Mafia Princess by Antoinette Giancana, or maybe watching some Growing Up Gotti on A&E.

But then, my own dad wasn’t a big boss; he was just a lesser boss, someone who had been in some very interesting places at some very interesting times, which had given him an overview of the agency beyond the standard compartmentalization. The last overt job that my father, Lloyd S. Millegan, had with the CIA was serving as a branch chief, the head of the East Asia Research Analysis Office. Before that, he’d been in the Office of Strategic Services (0SS) and a few of the other alpha-named agencies that eventually morphed into the CIA. After his initial contact with the intelligence community in 1936. as an 18-year-old exchange student at the University of Shanghai. He joined the OSS before World War II. In 1943, he entered the world of deep politics, "monitoring" Gen, Douglas MacArthur and his staff for the OSS and its boss, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Dad had many interesting adventures in those days, including running guerrillas and (ironically) getting sued by the Japanese government for his actions in sequestering the Japanese-puppet Filipino government’s library during the Battle of Manila, before the US troops arrived there in 1945.

My father quit the CIA in 1959. He’d already started toward the exit after a trip to South Vietnam in 1956, where he’d met an interesting real-life character named Edwin Lansdale, who could conceivably play a big part in The Good Shepard. Part II [assuming there is one], and who had recently taken control of the opium trade in the Golden Triangle, Dad started talking to me about all this in 1969, which led me to begin exploring a phenomenon that officially doesn’t exist: CIA involvement in narco-trafficking.

Which leads to my biggest beef with the film: Instead of touching on the CIA’s illicit drug-trade connections, now well documented as going back to the early postwar era, the story offers up the standard Hollywood-cliche mole maze, set against the disingenuous dialectic of the Cold War. Thus, the first major sin of The Good Shepherd is one of omission: no mention of the long-standing role that drug trafficking has played in the agency’s arsenal of "dirty tricks.”

Nonetheless, it is through the routine spy story that the movie interjects one of its greatest truths, albeit through the lips of a tortured Russian defector stoned on LSD:

Soviet power is a myth, a great joke. There are no spare parts; nothing is working — nothing. It’s nothing but painted rust. But you, you need to keep the Russian myth alive to maintain your military-industrial complex. Your system depends on Russia being perceived as a mortal threat. It’s not a threat. It was never a threat. It will never be a threat. It is a rotted, bloated cow.

How might this sobering fact be received by the audience, coming as it does from the mouth of an enemy agent tripped out on acid, appearing in a fictional film based upon an unreliable chronicle? Might it just covertly confirm the reality that many know to be true — but without causing the uproar that such a significant revelation should engender?

Around this real-life charade revolve some other themes of the movie, leaving us with an insight into Napoleon’s famous dictum: History is a set of lies agreed upon. For when even "honorable" men lie, who is trustworthy? What is real? Are our secrets safe? Do secrets give us safety? And at what cost?

My good friend Antony Sutton was ostracized from academia for uncovering the truth that forces in the West had been propping up the USSR since its inception, there even having been surreptitious Western help in producing the war materiel that was used to kill American soldiers in the Vietnam War. Tony demanded that the evidence he’d gathered be published. He was instead warned, "not to break his rice bowl." .

Finally, to force the issue, Tony released his own book. He was unceremoniously tossed out of the Hoover Institute at Stanford for this act of courage. His career was ruined, his family became estranged and his integrity was betrayed — but because of Sutton’s act of righteous defiance in 1973, there is cold, hard proof of what the psychedelicized Soviet agent sagaciously spouts in this 21st-century morality play.

Will the film’s revelation of this manipulation of public opinion — this strategy of tension, this "playing" of a false Soviet threat — be trumpeted, trumped or simply filed away among the many other "facts" of the day? For this speaks deeply to our common perceived reality and shared experiences — especially of boomers, who as young children were being shoved under desks for "protection," in a world about to be blown to smithereens … over ideology.

Antony Sutton paid the disgraceful price of being ridiculed by many, then ignored for the rest of his life. Deftly pigeonholed, his effort at speaking truth to power was sullied, entering the common discourse as per the Big Lie axiom: The truth must be available, but only in a way that makes it easily discarded.

Soon, the only place that a person could find Tony’s books was in a John Birch Society bookstore, which for most people immediately tainted what he had to say. Tony was never a member and abhorred the group. Interestingly, when researching the JBS, a person finds a very, convoluted history — one with spook fingerprints all over it. (Was part of the JBS’s operational capability to associate conspiracy research with the domain of wacky old white men concerned about precious bodily fluids, Commie boogiemen and such?)

Which leads us to another grim reality disclosed within this Hollywood fantasy: the very real manipulation of the Fourth Estate, and thus our collective civic understandings and abilities, by intelligence agencies, political hacks, corporate flacks and bureaucrats using propaganda techniques to spin "truth out of lies.”

In The Good Shepherd, the following is spoken by Phillip Allen (William Hurt] as he hands off the film’s protagonist, Edward Wilson (Matt Damon], to Wilson’s English handler in wartime 1941 London:

You are going to have to learn, and as quickly and thoroughly as possible, the English system of intelligence, the black arts, particularly counterintelligence — the uses of information, disinformation, and how their use is ultimately … power. They have agreed to open up their operations to us — they can’t win the war without us — but they don’t really want us here…. Intelligence is their mother’s milk, and they don’t like sharing the royal tit with people that don’t have titles.

Phillip Allen is clearly patterned, at least in part, after longtime CIA chief Allen Dulles, especially since, in the movie, Allen resigns — as Dulles did in real life — after the failed Bay of Pigs operation in 1961.

Philip Allen is also supposed to be a member of Skull and Bones’ class of 1912, and the top three guys at the agency in the movie are Bonesmen, which is historically inaccurate. This is not to say that Yale and its secret-society system — especially Bones — haven’t played a huge part in the structure and execution of our country’s intelligence operations, for they have, and of course Allen Dulles was part of this power establishment. So, even by Hollywood’s historical standards, this is in the right ballpark.

But for me, many features of Phillip Allen also evoke Bonesman Prescott Bush, the grandfather of the current Bonesman in the White House, and the father of another member of Skull and Bones: the former head of the CIA and ex-president, George HW. Bush.

For Prescott Bush was more than an investment banker for the Nazis (read: the creation of an enemy) who later became a US senator, partly through the suppression of the news that the companies he’d run had been seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act. Prescott had begun working with the intelligence community during World War I, and he maintained those contacts until his death. Also, Prescott Bush raised money for — and was on the board of directors of — the CBS television network, which was founded by William Paley, the former deputy chief for psychological-warfare operations on the staff of Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower.

And, probably most telling, Prescott — along with his son, Prescott Jr.; future CIA director William Casey; and corporate economist and intelligence gadfly Leo Cherne — founded the National Strategy Information Center (NSIC) in 1962. Some of NSIC’s early funding went to the London-based World Forum Features, which in turn circulated CIA-authored disinformation and manipulative news articles worldwide. They hoped that the "news" from these articles would subsequently be picked up and reported as fact by the US media, a process that spooks call "blowback."

Other material discrepancies in the film abound, such as putting the wrong dates on several scenes of historical fact; books appearing in the movie before their print date; and city buses full of people going to work on Sundays. And, as students of deep politics know, the real story of the Bay of Pigs is this: JFK went to bed the night before having given the okay for the necessary air support for the invasion. That directive was then "bungled" by presidential advisor and Skull and Bones member McGeorge Bundy, because the Bay of Pigs "invasion" was a planned debacle, leaving in place a convenient "enemy" to rattle fear in American souls and dollars out of the US treasury. It also gave operational cover for other adventures and tied an albatross around the new president’s neck.

The reality is much stranger than the fiction. In fact, the essence of this might be suggested by some words spoken by De Niro’s character, Gen. William ‘Wild Bill" Sullivan, the first director of the OSS: "I am concerned that too much power will end up in the hands of too few…. It’s always in somebody’s best interest to promote enemies — real or imagined." The reality has surpassed the cine-fiction. How far? Well….

"[M]en linked to the structures of United States intelligence" was how an Italian Senate investigation described the perpetrators of the 1980 Bologna train bombing, an act of terrorism that killed 85 people and injured over 200. The bombing was part of a series of actions carried out over many years in Italy, targeting the political left by essentially blaming and demonizing it for acts done covertly by agents of the right. The plan, part of Operation Gladio, sought to terrorize the populace into voting for strong right-wing governments in order to suppress the left.

"You had to attack civilians, the people, women, children, innocent people, unknown people far removed from the political game. The reason was quite simple: to force … the public to turn to the state to ask for greater security" was how Operation Gladio participant Vincenzo Vinciguerra put it later during his testimony to Italian authorities.

Operation Gladio, which was initially sold as a "stay-behind force" in case of the Communist takeover of Western Europe, was instead used for psychological warfare and political manipulation. Terrorism, assassination and subverting the electoral process were just a few of the deeds carried out using fascist elements, cult members, secret government agents, gangsters and covert military units.

Similarly, in Belgium, after large public protests over the nuclear-tipped missiles being based in their country, a "state security destabilization operation" was undertaken — as one participant called the series of mass killings in the mid-1980s dubbed the "Supermarket Massacres." Investigations by the Belgian parliament determined that the goal was to instill fear and discord, trigger repressive measures, and create the pretext for stricter state control. The killers were later linked to state security, neo-Nazi groups and even to Wackenhut, a firm with US intelligence ties.

Operation Northwood was another "false flag" terrorist operation, this time emanating from the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the US Department of Defense via a study-group report entitled "Justification for US Military Intervention in Cuba," The scheme was backed by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Gen. Lyman Lemnitzer, with the Joint Chiefs specifically supporting a proposal to down an aircraft supposedly carrying" college students off on a holiday,"

James Bamford, in his 2001 book Body of Secrets, wrote: "Operation Northwoods had the written approval of the Chairman and every member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, called for innocent people to be shot on American streets; for boats carrying refugees fleeing Cuba to be sunk on the high seas; for a wave of violent terrorism to be launched in Washington, D.C., Miami, and elsewhere. People would be framed for bombings they did not commit; planes would be hijacked. Using phony evidence, all of it would be blamed on Castro, thus giving Lemnitzer and his cabal the excuse, as well as the public and international backing, they needed to launch their war,"

How much of our history is simply psychological warfare, including the traumatizing of the masses through fear, the creation of false enemies, media manipulation, electoral theft and other terrorist acts, all done as a means to an end?

"[A] mind-set that thrives on secrecy and deception … encourages professional amorality — the belief that righteous goals can be achieved through the use of unprincipled and normally unacceptable means," wrote ex-CIA officer Victor Marchetti in his book The CIA and the Cult of Intelligence. And my ex-CIA father, in a 1979 newspaper interview, stated: “When you work for the CIA, the ends justify the means."

Is that the brutal reality behind the horrific acts of Sept. 11, 2001? Was this watershed event a managed tragedy, an occult means to invoke repression and war? Are Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda the strategic invention of yet another enemy in a long series of created malefactors? Is it possible for us to learn and then change the way of world from the enlightened dialogue of the silver screen?

Everything that seems clear is bent and everything that seems bent is clear. Trapped in reflections, you must learn to recognize when a lie masquerades as a truth….

Please hearken to those words of wisdom, but do not attempt to pass a history exam having watched The Good Shepherd … at least in my class.
