Menace II Secret Society

Secret Society

By Miranda Johnson

Looks like a few of our favorite artists are giving up a little of the rapping and dancing for some lights, camera, and action. Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, ?uestlove, and Will.i.am are set to star on an episode of “The Cleveland Show” on Fox this fall. The all-star musical bunch will appear in the season premiere “Menace II Secret Society” on October 7.

Whisperings about this episode were first heard last summer when Mike Henry, who voices Cleveland on the show told reporters, “We have an episode where Kanye and will.i.am, playing himself, and Nicki Minaj, playing herself, and Bruno Mars, playing himself, and ?uestlove—they’re all part of the rap Illuminati, the secret group that controls pop culture.”

The series’ executive producer Rich Appel explained more about the episode’s plot stating, “Cleveland inadvertently breaks into it and then it’s how he will either bring them down or they’ll bring him down,” he said. “We have a couple of original songs with Kanye and Will and Bruno, I mean, all of them, it was great.”

Unlike the rest of the bunch, this is not Kanye’s first time appearing on the series. The rap star, who rocked out Atlantic City’s Revel Resort this past weekend has been featured on several episodes of “The Cleveland Show” playing the voice of an aspiring young rapper named Kenny West. In West’s past episodes he covers everything from battling over his attractive girlfriend to helping rescue a timid little girl from a well.

London area mayor seeks removal of ‘anti-Semitic’ mural

New World Order Mural

(JTA) — A London mural depicting Jewish bankers is set to be removed following complaints that it has anti-Semitic undertones.

The London Jewish Chronicle reported that the council of the London borough of Tower Hamlets had said it was talking with police to have the image removed.

The mural, titled Freedom for Humanity, depicts a group of businessmen and bankers counting money around a Monopoly-style board balanced on the backs of men with dark complexions. It was reportedly spray-painted on private property. The Los Angeles-based artist, Kalen Ockerman, acknowledged that some of the bankers were Jewish but said the mural was not anti-Semitic.

“My mural is about class and privilege,” he wrote on his Facebook page. “The banker group is made up of Jewish and white Anglos. For some reason they are saying I am anti-Semitic. This I am most definitely not… What I am against is class.”

Lutfur Rahman, the Tower Hamlets mayor, said he “shares concerns” that the mural is anti-Semitic, and that it “perpetuated anti-Semitic propaganda about conspiratorial Jewish domination of financial and political institutions,” the Chronicle reported.

Al-Qaeda blamed for Europe-wide forest fires

Russia Fire

Al-Qaeda has been blamed for a recent series of forest fires across Europe, as the head of Russia’s Federal Security Service claimed they were set by arsonists as part of the group’s low-cost attack strategy.

“One should note that setting fires to forests in the countries of the European Union is a new tendency in al-Qaeda’s strategy of a ‘thousand cuts’,” Alexander Bortnikov said, according to state news agency RIA Novosti, at a meeting of heads of security agencies.

“This method allows (al-Qaeda) to inflict significant economic and moral damage without serious preliminary preparations, technical equipment or significant expenses.”

In linking al-Qaeda to the deadly wildfires, Mr Bortnikov pointed to calls to launch a “forest jihad” by various extremist websites which he said also publish detailed instructions about how and where to best carry out arson.

He said it was very difficult for special services to find and prosecute such arsonists.

Deadly fires have swept through forest land in EU countries such as Portugal and Spain over the past few months, killing scores of people and forcing thousands to evacuate.

Last month, a forest fire in the Spanish region of Valencia forced authorities to evacuate around 2,000 people from their home.

More than 184,000 hectares of land in Spain alone were destroyed by fires between January 1 and September 16, according to its agriculture ministry, the highest amount in a decade.

In its continuing campaign against the West, al-Qaeda has vowed to “bleed the enemy to death” by resorting to inexpensive, low-scale attacks it refers to as a “strategy of a thousand cuts”.

In September last year David Petraeus, the director of the CIA, said that while al-Qaeda had been weakened by the death of Osama bin laden, the organisation still remained a significant threat to the US, because of a willingness to embrace these smaller-scale attacks.
